Dr. Tashbih Sayyed, 1941-2007

Dr. Tashbih Sayyed, political analyst, journalist, and writer, died Wednesday, 23 May at Cedar-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. Dr. Sayyed was Editor in Chief of Pakistan Today, the weekly newspaper and website www.MuslimWorldToday.com, and In Review.

Tashbih Sayyed has been at the forefront of the fight against the increasing influence of Islamism among Muslims and its impact on world peace. Here is our video of portion of his acceptance speech upon receiving a "Profile in Courage" Award in September, 2006.

He appeared in the documentaries, "Relentless: The Struggle for Peace in Israel" (2003) and "Obsession: Radical Islam's War Against the West" (2005). He was the President and founder of The Council for Democracy and Tolerance, an adjunct fellow of the Hudson Institute.

As a regular columnist for newspapers in the US, Pakistan, Germany and India, Tashbih Sayyed has written courageously on the Islamist threat to the world. Dr. Sayyed's books include: History Of The World, Left Of The Center, Pakistan - An Unfinished Agenda, Mohammad - A secularist's View, Foreign Policy Of Pakistan, and Shadow Warriors - Afghanistan, Pakistan, Taliban.

He inspired Muslim, Jewish, Christian and secularists to unite against Islamist tyranny. Dr. Sayyed leaves a wife and three children. A funeral is planned for Sunday, 27 May in Los Angeles.
